Notes:

The Prostar 816 Plus has many features not available on the older 816 series. We suggest that you use the 816 Plus.

The 816 can only turn the message waiting lamps ON. The lights must be turned OFF at each station. Note that VoiceTrak can turn the lights on AND off on the 816 Plus.

The basic 408 system will support 2-port VoiceTrak with no expansion cards. 4-port VoiceTrak requires purchase of Type II 2-CO 4-SLT card from STC.

This integration information is provided as a service to VoiceTrak dealers.   VoiceTrak does not assume responsibility for the content or accuracy of this information. The dealer is responsible for insuring the telephone equipment provides the necessary features to support voice mail operation.

Programming Tips

MMC #14 - Station Directory.

From the attendant phone (defined in MMC #70), program the voice mail ports to say VOICETRAK.

MMC #15 - Soft Key Assignment.

We suggest a round button be programmed to call VoiceTrak. Assume the fourth round button (Call Back) is used to call VoiceTrak, which is hunt group 1. Enable MMC programming; press #15, press the round button to be programmed, dial 43 (for hunt group 1), press #. Whenever the round button is pressed, the phone will call VoiceTrak. (Note - see MMC #69)

MMC #18 - Group Directory.

Program the name of Hunt Group 1 to say VOICETRAK.

MMC #38 - Single Line Dialing Type.

All extension ports used as single line ports must be programmed here. If the first six extension ports are used by key telephone sets, ports 7 and 8 are used for single line devices, ports 9 through 12 are used for VoiceTrak ports, and ports 13 through 16 are used for key telephone sets, the data line for MMC #38 would be: 0000001111110000

MMC #47 - Dial 9 Group.

If VoiceTrak will initiate outcall notifications to pagers or other external phone numbers it will be necessary to define a dial 9 group.

MMC #53 - Transfer Ring Time.

This timer must be set substantially higher than the length of time required for VoiceTrak to complete a supervised transfer. For example, if a VoiceTrak mailbox is set to 7 rings and MMC #53 is set to 20 seconds, serious problems will certainly result. We recommend MMC #53 be set to 200 seconds (maximum allowed) to prevent problems if the customer increases the number of rings in an individual mailbox. One symptom of this problem: Callers never return to VoiceTrak following a transfer attempt to a station which was not answered.

MMC #60 - C.O. Line Ring Mode.

Set for Individual Ring Mode if VoiceTrak will be used as an automated attendant in either the day or night mode. (If this is not set for individual ring mode, all VoiceTrak ports will ring on an incoming call.)

MMC #61 - Night Ringing Assignment.

We recommend that VoiceTrak be programmed to answer all incoming calls in the night mode. A 4 port VoiceTrak should be programmed to ring the first 3 ports. To avoid call collision when VoiceTrak turns on message lights or calls pagers, the fourth port should not be programmed to ring during incoming calls. Note that MMC #60 MUST be set for Individual Ring Mode or incoming calls.

MMC #62 - Day Ringing Assignment.

Do not program VoiceTrak ports for Day Ringing. If the phone system is in the night mode, VoiceTrak will answer all calls. If the phone system is in the day mode, VoiceTrak will not answer and calls will ring at the stations defined here.

MMC #69 - Station Hunt Groups.

Program all VoiceTrak ports - except the last port - as part of Station Hunt Group 1. To program: Enable MMC programming, press #69, dial 1 for hunt group 1, press the DSS button for each VoiceTrak port (except the last port), press #. VoiceTrak will now be hunt group 71.

MMC #70 - Attendant Assignment.

An attendant position must be defined so the system can be placed in day or night mode.

MMC #76 - Hunt Group Ring Modes.

Set the VoiceTrak hunt group as 'Distributed - Individual'. Enable MMC programming, Dial #76, press 1 for hunt group 1, press 1 for Distributed Individual, touch #.

Notes:

Zone Paging

VoiceTrak can announce the called party over the 816 speakers during a call transfer through the VoiceTrak system. VoiceTrak always tries to use the next- to-the-last port to announce the call. To initiate a page from a single line port on the 816, you must dial the extension number of the port you're using, then the digit 0.

Example: VoiceTrak is connected to the 816 via a Type II card in the first position. VoiceTrak is connected to ports 9-12, which are extensions 29-32 on the 816 system. Since VoiceTrak uses the next-to-the-last port, the extension number is 31. For VoiceTrak to initiate a page it must dial 310.

To enable this feature, access the VoiceTrak mailbox setup screen. In the Zone Page Y/N field enter "Y". In the Zone Page Code field enter "310". If a spoken name has been recorded, VoiceTrak will announce the name over all 816 speakers when the caller selects that mailbox through the VoiceTrak automated attendant system.
